ARTIST BIO

Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, known as Ronaldo, bornin Bento Ribeiro, a district of Rio de Janeiro, is a Brazilian international footballer, who played as a center forward.

He began his professional career in Brazil, at Cruzeiro, before leaving for Europe and PSV Eindhoven. He stayed there for two seasons before signing for FC Barcelona for a one-season stay. Ronaldo was then recruited by Inter Milan in a record transfer. There are five seasons left in Serie A. After the 2002 World Cup, he joined the “Galactics” of Real Madrid for 42 million euros. After five seasons with the Madrid club, he joined AC Milan. In 2009, he returned to his native country and transferred to Corinthians, the club for which he played his last matches. He announced his retirement on .

Nicknamed Il Fenomeno in Italy and Ronaldinho in Brazil, Ronaldo won numerous titles with the Brazilian national team. He won the FIFA World Cup twice in 1994 and 2002 and failed once in the final in 1998. Top scorer during the 2002 World Cup with eight goals, he was the best player in the final during which he scored twice. With 15 goals, he is the second top scorer in the World Cup behind Miroslav Klose (16 goals). With 62 goals in 98 caps, he is the Seleção's third top scorer behind Pelé and Neymar. At club level, despite stints with some major European clubs, he did not win the Champions League unlike victories in the UEFA Cup or Cup Winners' Cup. The title of champion of Spain as well as the Dutch Cup are added to his list of achievements.

Named to the FIFA 100 by Pelé and FIFA, he won the France Football Ballon d'or twice in 1997 and 2002. Voted FIFA Best Footballer of the Year in 1996, 1997, 2002 and European Golden Shoe in 1997, Il Fenomeno is considered one of the best players in the history of football.

In 2018, he became the owner of Real Valladolid. In 2021, he became the owner of the Brazilian club Cruzeiro.
