ARTIST BIO

Lennart Scholte has always been fascinated by what people leave behind as waste on the street. A logical consequence is that he recycles this waste and transforms it into art.

The canvas or object he paints is given a second life; a critical note to our consumer society.

An interesting detail is that his work often looks graphic, sleek and clean. So clean, it could be printed. Not really! Everything is painted by hand in a laborious process with an astonishing result. Waste is elevated to art; visual gems for the viewer.

ABOUT THE ART

Skatepark Sweatshop in The Netherlands, together with The Hague Street Art, has asked (inter)national artists to create a number of unique Street art items to raise money for the Jaan Foundation - a foundation that works for endangered animals in Indonesia.

We thank artist Lennart Scholte for his contribution.  All proceeds will benefit the Jaan Foundation.

Jaan Foundation was started in 1999 to give hope and critical support to children in need of care and protection. Its founder, Sr. Jeanne Devos, I.C.M. was earlier instrumental in highlighting the plight of child and adult domestic workers in India through the National Domestic Workers’ Movement (NDWM). Today, Jaan Foundation works to ensure a better childhood for child workers and children of domestic workers through its lobbying and advocacy programme that promotes Child Rights and its direct service programmes such as education, skills development, training workshops and temporary shelter and rehabilitation services for children rescued from abusive domestic work or trafficking situations.
