ARTIST BIO (Opake)

OPAKE is a prominent London-based artist whose work merges graffiti, pop art, and personal reflection. He reimagines iconic cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse and Pink Panther in ways that delve into deeper themes of mental health, addiction, and the breakdown of pop culture. His unique style, which he calls "the disintegration of pop culture," often features bold colors and overlapping imagery that create a chaotic yet captivating visual experience.

Opake's artistic journey is closely tied to his struggle with addiction. Having experienced drug-induced psychosis, he transformed his battle into a source of creative power. His art frequently uses repetition and cluttered compositions, symbolizing the cyclical nature of addiction and the concept of insanity—doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results. These visual elements mirror his personal struggles and eventual recovery.

By channeling his experiences into his work, Opake invites collectors and institutions to engage with art that goes beyond aesthetics, offering a compelling narrative of personal transformation. His growing international reputation, bolstered by a large online following, has made his work highly sought after by collectors worldwide.

ARTIST BIO (Slawn)

Olaolu Akeredolu-Ale, known professionally as Slawn, is a British-Nigerian artist whose work fuses street culture, skateboarding, and contemporary art. Born in 2000 in Lagos, Nigeria, Slawn grew up immersed in the city’s creative underground, working with Wafflesncream—Nigeria’s pioneering skate brand—and later co-founding the streetwear collective Motherlan. His early exposure to design and youth culture shaped his irreverent artistic voice. After moving to London in 2018, Slawn studied graphic design at Middlesex University, but it was during the 2020 lockdown that he began painting prolifically. Using spray paint and acrylics, he developed a distinctive, cartoon-inspired visual language that merges graffiti energy with humor and social commentary.

Since his debut solo exhibition at London’s Truman Brewery in 2021, Slawn’s career has accelerated rapidly. He has become a leading figure in the new generation of urban artists redefining contemporary British art. His works explore identity, race, and consumer culture through playful yet confrontational imagery. In 2023, he gained international recognition when he was commissioned to design the official Brit Awards statuette—becoming the youngest and first Nigerian-born artist to do so. Drawing inspiration from his Yoruba heritage and his skateboarding roots, Slawn continues to blur the boundaries between fine art, street culture, and fashion, positioning himself as one of the most dynamic and unconventional voices in today’s art scene.
