Tupac Shakur reunited with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg Sunday night at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival -- at least that's what it looked like. The late rap star's likeness was recreated in hologram form for the music festival with some impressive technology.

Supreme teased its new season earlier this week with a video depicting the controversial hologram of Tupac Shakur from Coachella 2012. In the clip, the rap legend's clothing has been edited so that he appears to be wearing Supreme boxers. The video arrived just before the brands' SS20 lookbook dropped in full, a collection that will pay homage to the musician across various standout pieces.

The initial "hologram performance"  – orchestrated by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, who closed that year's festival as headliners – was reported to cost between $100,000 and $400,000 to produce. To this day, it remains a thorny talking point because of the precedent it set on bringing performers "back to life."
